BAND BOOSTERS
One of the pillars of having a strong band program is having a strong support system in place. We are fortunate to have an incredibly strong support system elevating our band program. The Marietta Band Boosters is the parent organization that supports the entire band program in the Marietta City Schools District. This includes all instrumental ensembles and color guard programs at Marietta High School.
The boosters work hard to support the MCS Band Program on all fronts. This group is comprised of parent/family volunteers that run fundraisers, purchase needed instruments and equipment, provide manpower, and help in any way possible to boost the district band program. The dedication of the Booster organization runs deep, and we are fortunate to have such a great support system!
Meetings for the Booster program are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the Marietta High School Band Room at 7:00 p.m.. There are no December meetings. All meetings are marked on the Band Calendar.
FUNDRAISING
With the expenses incurred while running a band program, it is necessary to raise funds for the organization throughout the school year. The Band Boosters and band students regularly participate in fundraising sales and events. Some regular fundraisers include the following:
BAND BUCKS DISCOUNT CARD
One of our most popular fundraisers is the "Band Bucks" discount card. Cards are sold by band members for $10.00 each, and provide the cardholder with various discounts at over 50 local businesses. With these kinds of savings, the card pays for itself in no time! These cards make great gifts for families, friends, and anyone that lives in the Mid-Ohio Valley! This fundraiser only runs from mid-July through November but the cards last for an entire year. ITEM SALES
Throughout the year, band members sell a variety of items to raise money. Items include but are not limited to: pastas/soups (early Fall), poinsettia flowers (November-December), Yankee Candle (early Fall/Spring), locally-grown hanging baskets (late Spring), charm bracelets, and other assorted items. The list varies from year to year.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
The band program/Band Boosters run several different events throughout the year to raise funds and offset costs for members. Events include but are not limited to: the Band-O-Rama OMEA Adjudicated Event and the annual Band Booster Craft Show (November). In addition, Boosters run concessions during all home football games for Marietta High School at Don Drumm Stadium.
